December 2017
The Hook Trail team was delighted to hear the great news that our partner, Winnakee Land Trust, received Governor Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council Award for the acquisition of land along the Saw Kill for the Hook Trail’s Saw Kill Link Trail project.
It has been several years since the Saw Kill Link Trail was originally conceived and designed by Robert George of Robert George Design Group, now Creative Director of local non-profit, Greater Good Dynamics. Since then, Greater Good Dynamics has been working hard for Red Hook so that residents and visitors alike will come to value such a trail in their community. The benefits of this trail are immeasurable — from increased road safety, aesthetics, and health to a boost for our wonderful and eclectic local commerce. The Saw Kill Link Trail will provide an off-road route for pedestrian and bicyclists, connecting the Villages of Red Hook and Tivoli, as well as Bard College and Tivoli Bays. It will traverse through beautiful wetlands and picturesque forests — right from the edge of Red Hook Village and onward.
